VenaSeal is a non-thermal treatment option for closing diseased veins. It delivers a small amount of adhesive to the inside of the vein which permanently seals it shut. This treatment has fewer shots to numb the leg and does not require compression afterward. Venaseal is for patients who have no known allergies to adhesives and acrylics, as well as being subject to insurance approval.

You will have an ultrasound imaging exam of the leg that is to be treated. This exam is important for assessing the diseased superficial vein and planning the procedure.

Most patients resume normal daily activities within a few days. Post-procedure, keep your bandages dry and remove after 48 hours. During those initial 48 hours, get up and walk for 10 mins during every hour that you are awake to encourage circulation. Please avoid prolonged sitting or standing, and elevate your legs at least three times per day for 5-10 minutes for the first week post procedure. Avoid strenuous activity such as aerobics, weight training, bicycling, or running for two weeks.
