Varithena is an injectable foam for below knee veins that are tortuous (full of twists and turns) that RFA and Venaseal catheters cannot get through. The vein is accessed using a needle and then injected with foam that fills the inside of the vessel. It removes the blood and destroys the interior lining of the vein. The leg is then compressed with a special tool and the leg is wrapped for 2-3 days.

Keeping your leg and subsequently, the vein compressed properly will ensure that the vessel cannot reopen and that the procedure is successful.
